Opt for the unusual and chances are you’ll always have something to talk about.

Or curl up inside a wine barrel at a nearby hotel featuring four gigantic vats made to hold more than 10,000 liters of wine.  Each one has been tastefully decorated and converted into a pleasant guest room and yes, you’ll get the chance to taste superb vintages.

If you’re into the bizarre, the Prison Cell in Denmark is right for you.  It’s situated on the second level of the Den Gamble Hotel featuring cells with platform beds and ample hallway bathrooms.  They all enjoy vistas of the lovely gardens.
 
If in the mood for romance, there’s no better spot than the Ice Hotel in Jukkasjarvi.  Cuddle in thermal sleeping bags in the icy rooms.  But if it’s too cold, inquire about heated facilities.  Take time to explore the surroundings on a snow mobile or learn to dog sled.   
   
And you won’t find a better family vacation resort than the Games Hotel in the heart of the Swiss Alps, where nothing is ever taking seriously.  They offer skateboarding, spinning and other fun activities for all ages.
